Note on prerequisites: The American Sailing Association (ASA) course progression provides a structured pathway from a beginner (ASA 101) to an offshore captain (ASA 108). Each course requires that the previous class has been completed. If you do not want ASA certification and still want to sail with us, please contact us to discuss your experience and your interests, and we will help you find a passage right for you.

ASA 101, 103 & 104

Prerequisite: No prerequisites — this course is open to complete beginners

This course covers ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat Sailing), ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising), and ASA 104 (Bareboat Cruising) — taking you from your first time at the helm all the way to skippering a cruising yacht independently. You will learn to handle all aspects of boat management, passage planning, anchoring, docking, and crew leadership. This course takes place on the open water of the Caribbean aboard Gemini II, a 1993 Nautor Swan 55 Center Cockpit.

Certification: ASA 101, 103 & 104 — Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Cruising certifications. Recognised by bareboat charter companies worldwide, and allows you to obtain an International Proficiency Certificate for chartering in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Prerequisite: ASA 104 required

A combined course covering both ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation) and ASA 106 (Advanced Coastal Cruising). Over six days you will progress from chart work and electronic navigation to multi-day coastal passages in real ocean conditions. This is where sailors develop the confidence and competence to plan and execute extended passages independently. Longer passages are available for those who want more time on the water.

Certification: ASA 105 and ASA 106 certifications. Qualifies you for offshore charter and extended coastal cruising.

Celestial Navigation & Offshore Passagemaking

Prerequisite: ASA 106 required

The pinnacle of the Find Your Way Sailing curriculum. ASA 107 and 108 are taught together on a live offshore passage — crossing real ocean miles aboard Gemini II. You will learn to navigate using a sextant and celestial bodies, manage a watch system on an extended passage, and develop the full skill set of a blue-water passage maker.

Certification: ASA 107 and ASA 108 certifications. The highest level of ASA offshore qualification.
