About Us

We Teach People to Find Their Way.

An ASA sailing school built on one belief — that the best way to learn to sail is to go sailing. On the ocean. In real conditions. With an expert beside you.

Our Story

Born on the Water.
Built for the Ocean.

Find Your Way Sailing was founded with a simple conviction: aspiring sailors deserve more than classroom theory and sheltered harbour drills. They deserve the real thing.

We operate in the Caribbean and Atlantic — two of the world's great sailing theatres — aboard Gemini II, a 1993 Nautor Swan 55 Center Cockpit. Our courses follow the American Sailing Association curriculum from ASA 101 through to ASA 107 & 108, taking students from complete beginners to fully certified blue-water sailors.

Every student who sails with us leaves with more than a certificate. They leave with the confidence, the skills, and the sea miles to go wherever they want to go.

Your Instructor

Meet Captain Duane Moran

Captain Duane Moran has spent a lifetime on the water. Growing up in Ocean City, New Jersey, he was introduced to boating by his grandfather and began sailing and racing Optimists at the age of nine. By eleven, he was spending summers working as a dock hand at local marinas, and as a teenager he earned his sea legs as a mate aboard charter fishing boats.

After earning a degree in Structural Engineering and building a successful construction company, Duane never strayed far from the ocean. Time away from work was spent delivering boats between the Northeast and the Caribbean, racing Lightnings, Lasers, and PHRF yachts in regattas from New Jersey to Block Island, and steadily expanding the offshore experience that would become a lifelong passion. Today, Duane brings decades of blue-water sailing experience across the Caribbean, the Atlantic, and beyond to every passage aboard Gemini II. Holding a USCG 100-Ton Master's License and ASA Instructor certifications through ASA 208, he combines deep technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach to teaching.

His philosophy is simple: put students in real conditions, give them real responsibility, and let the ocean do the teaching. Whether standing an overnight watch, navigating a coastal passage, or managing a vessel offshore, students learn by doing. Every lesson is earned at sea, not in a classroom. His active sailing life ensures his students learn from someone who is still out there doing it, not just talking about it.

Find Your Way Sailing — Warriors logo

The Warriors

Why the Spartan Warriors?

Our logo represents the Gemini twins: Castor and Pollux. Inseparable in their looks and actions, Castor was a great horseman and Pollux a great fighter. Together, they sailed with Jason on the Argo and saved the ship from a terrible storm.

When Castor was killed in battle, Pollux pleaded with Zeus to bring him back. Zeus agreed to immortalise both brothers — on the condition that they spend half their time on Earth and the other half amongst the stars as the Gemini constellation. Since then, when sailors saw those two stars together, they knew their journey would be prosperous.

Spartan warriors are one of history's most enduring symbols of discipline, resilience, and mastery under pressure. They trained relentlessly because their lives — and the lives of those around them — depended on their skill. That ethos resonates deeply with offshore sailing. The ocean doesn't care how confident you feel in a marina. It tests you. It demands preparation, composure, and the ability to make good decisions when conditions turn against you.

Our Warriors logo not only reflects the Gemini constellation — it is also a reminder of what we're building in every student who sails with us: not just a certificate holder, but a capable, confident mariner who has been tested by real conditions and come through stronger for it.

Find Your Way Sailing. Train like a warrior. Sail like one.

How We Teach

What Sets Us Apart.

Real Ocean Conditions

We don't teach in marinas or sheltered bays. Every course takes place on the open ocean — the Caribbean and Atlantic — because that's where real sailors are made.

One Instructor. One Yacht.

You sail with the same expert instructor throughout your course, aboard the same proven vessel. No rotating staff, no unfamiliar boats. Consistency builds confidence.

ASA Certified

Every course leads to an American Sailing Association certification — internationally recognised credentials that open doors to bareboat charters and offshore passages worldwide.

Small Groups Only

A maximum of 6 students per passage means you spend real time at the helm. This is hands-on sailing education, not a spectator sport.

Certification

ASA Certified.
Globally Recognised.

Find Your Way Sailing is an American Sailing Association school. The ASA is the largest sailing education organization in the United States, and its certifications are recognized by bareboat charter companies and sailing schools worldwide. ASA 104 also qualifies you to obtain an International Proficiency Certificate (IPC), recognised for chartering in Europe and the Mediterranean.

We offer the full certification pathway — ASA 101, 103 & 104 through to ASA 107 & 108 — giving our students a clear, structured route from complete beginner to blue-water passage maker.

The Pathway
